How to get better at game |

Unless you have some sort of interest in music I would recommend against spending $300 for just a gaming headset. If you're interested in music, what genres do you listen to? You won't need an amp or an external DAC for just gaming and I would stay away from the Astro products...they're way overpriced for what they are.
If you're just looking to shout at people in game and be able to hear footsteps go cheap. Something like Sennheiser HD205s or a pair of Sony MDR-v6 is all you really need. For a mic Logitech makes a desktop mic for $20 or alternatively you can get a zalman clip on mic for $20. I know chewy stands behind MDR-v6s and the HD205s are just as good for a slightly better price. If you're serious about audio and you love music (like me :3) then $300 might be a good investment but if it's just for gaming you'll be more than happy with either of those suggestions (or I can give you a new set of slightly higher tier ones). Let me know! |

Well try this for me: look into the Audio-Technica M50. Read a review or two maybe and tell me what you think. They have great bass (not just loud and obnoxious, extremely detailed) and they're driven pretty well so you won't need an amp right away (so you can decide later on if you want to invest more). They have a large sound stage which is great for gaming/footsteps and you will be able to hear everything that's going on with detail.
http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-M...0016037&sr=8-1 There are two models, a straight cord version (S) and a coiled cord version. The prices on Amazon fluctuate between $90-130 on both; right now the straight cord version is under $100 whereas the coiled cord version is at $130 but will be down sometime this week. Spend that extra $200 on something else or save it. That way you have the option to get an amp/dac later on but honestly I bet you'll love the M50s enough without one. And yeah while you're at it give SS a call and get those 5Hv2s replaced. Worst case scenario you can lay them on your desk and use them as a desktop mic while you use your new headphones! |
