any network savvy guys

know any way to bypass a packet shaper?

basically im living in university owned apartments for school, their internet is extremely fast, however, every time i try to play source i get banned from the network for exceeding the packet limit.

i dont really play much anymore, but it would be nice to be able to pug every once in a while when i feel like it.

weird thing is, i can play other games on the network just fine (quake, mmos...etc)

unless they specifically want any game that would exceed that limit to be banned (i.e. they might not really have video games in mind with their system but source just happens to go over the limit) then you can call your schools it dept and they might just tell you how to get around it, i had to do that to use irc when i was still in the dorms (was a port blocker in my case though)

i dont know anything about packet shapers but it sounds like you might be boned otherwise

ah, i see. its weird though that only source is limited by the packet shaper, i havent tried 1.6, but i can play AVA.
